Before we publish our next article, we really need to list all the updates that have been made to the Museum over the past months, whilst we have been writing new pages.
Some of these amendments are to the text to provide more information and some are new pictures.
Amongst the pictures, you will see that we are now starting to add boxed dolls to the museum pages. Originally Kathy and I had hoped to have a page which just showed all the boxed dolls. This was because our old website didn’t have the functionality to add too many photos to one entry. This website is much more flexible and we can do this really easily now.
Personally, I’m much more of a played-with doll collector than a boxed doll collector as I do like to change my Sindy’s outfits from time to time, but I do have some and will add them when I can. However, if you have a boxed doll that’s not shown in the museum and you would wouldn’t mind showing her, please do get in touch. As always, everything is acknowledged.
So in year order:
1968 ‘ Miss Beautiful’ confirmation of the plastic crown for the pink gown from Linda, and we have also now added the prices of all four Sidepart boxed dolls prompted by a visitor’s book comment from Sue, thank you to you both.
1969 ‘Working Sink Unit’ has been completely revised to include the box and additional accessories. Thanks to Scott, the red dish rack version is also now included.
1972 again with thanks to Scott, the Sindy Super Show ballet outfit has been updated to show a comparison photo of the two floral headbands using his ribbon rosette headdress.
1973 ‘Lovely Lively’ we had originally written that we had never seen the pattern used for Sindy’s dress in the catalogue. Lone from Denmark found she actually had this version, which has been added along with the catalogue photo for comparison. Thank you Lone.
1973 ‘Springtime’ has been amended to include a very subtle variation with a dress where the flowers have eight petals instead of six. Information on the loose belt and the sewn-in half-belt have also been included. Thank you Gill.
1974 Lynn noticed the so-far unreferenced outfit ‘Sun Suit’ on the side of her 1975 ‘Lovely Lively’ Sindy box with the new 1975 “44” reference. The outfit entry has been updated and now includes a photo from the 1975 box. Thank you Lynn.
1975 ‘Funtime Sindy’ boxed doll has been added thanks to Julia LT.
1975 ‘Hello Dolly’ has been updated to include a new variation. This one is really interesting because it also shows how the Hong Kong factory cut the fabric of the underskirt right up to the very edge of the roll. Thank you Anna.
1976 ‘High & Dry’ now includes comparison photos of the brown and olive variations of this shortie bath robe thanks to Sandra. The Mint in Packet brown version has also been added as an extra reference.
1976 ‘Jet Set’ now includes an update on shoes found with this outfit, thank you Paulien from the Netherlands.
1976 we now have a boxed long-haired ‘Wedding Bells’ Bride doll with thanks again to Julia LT.
1976 The three Accessories packs have now all been updated to include the Mint in Pack versions. Thank you again to Lone in Denmark for providing the ‘Finishing Touches’ pack.
1976 Scenesetters The ‘Cook-in Time’ accessory pack has also been updated to include a Mint in Pack photo.
1978 ‘Nurse Sindy’ has now been updated to include a blonde nurse in the beautiful, illustrated front-flap box. This was provided by Julia on behalf of herself and her mother Maureen, thank you.
1979 ‘Show Jumper’ now includes a photo of the boxed doll.
1979 ‘Summertime Fun’ Sindy now includes a photo of the boxed doll.
1980 ‘Nostalgia’ – Update on the shoes with thanks to Martina from The Little Sindy Museum in Sweden.
1982 now includes a 2nd Gen ‘Sindy Dancer’ in her box with the illustrated background.
1983 The International ‘Striped Jacket’ now includes photos of three known variations.
1983 The ‘Active Sindy’ boxed doll was added so that it was easier to compare the 1983 and 1984 Active/Ballerina boxes.
1967-68 Sindy’s New Friends has been updated to include a description of Betsy’s brush, comb & mirror prompted by a query from Chris which again Gill kindly answered.
1966 Patch has now been updated. Following a question from Dawn about when Patch was first introduced, the introduction to the 1966 Patch page has improved to include details of her 1965 Hamelys debut, some more snippets of information about her and a link to Patch’s lovely 1966 TV advert.
1967 Patch’s ‘Casual Skirt’ has been updated to include Carol’s observations on the variations to the pattern of her skirt, thank you.
Martinair Sindy has been updated with photos of the 1st Version hat and scarf thanks to Vicky in Australia
Sindy Trendy Brides has been updated to include information about Youngs 1972 marketing campaign.
Sindy Trendy Brides has also been updated with a new auburn Trendy Bride plus the story of where the gown was chosen and details of the doll and outfit itself, this is thanks to Kathy.
Volendam Sindy now includes Sandra’s slim face Volendam plus her slightly different lace cap. Thank you again Sandra and also to Patricia in the Netherlands for checking the amended page.
Thank you to all the people listed who contributed to the museum pages to make them more complete.
